The Journal of Orthopedics is committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record.
When significant errors, ethical concerns, or issues affecting the reliability of published work are identified, the journal may issue:
- Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda);
- Retractions;
- Editorial Expressions of Concern.
Corrections may be published when errors affect the accuracy, interpretation, or integrity of a published article but do not invalidate its findings.
Retractions may be issued in cases involving:
- unreliable data or conclusions;
- plagiarism;
- duplicate publication;
- unethical research practices;
- serious breaches of publication ethics.
Retraction notices will remain linked to the original article, which may continue to be accessible as part of the scholarly record.
An Editorial Expression of Concern may be published when serious concerns arise regarding a publication and an investigation is ongoing.
The journal follows the recommendations and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when managing corrections, retractions, and ethical concerns.
